Ctl-Alt-Whatnow?
A brief bit from David Bradley who was the inventor of Ctl-Alt-Delete, he's on this panel here with Bill Gates and he accidentally slams Bill Gates - okay maybe not that accidentally.
This looks like a really interesting show, I wonder if there's a full version anywhere. The guy to the left of David Bradley, with the beard, is Dan Bricklin who invented the spreadsheet. So a very interesting group.

Don't ask why
Convert your images into HTML for fun and slowness. Why you would ever ever want to do this is kind of beyond me, but for the ingenuity of it you have to give them something.
It just uses thousands and thousands of 1px x 1px cells in a table! Great but does it validate?

A solution to the socket shortage?
And people took the piss out of me!
A solution to the socket shortage?: "As a survey reveals two-thirds of Britons say they don't have enough plug sockets in their homes, what's the answer: messy multi-plug extension boards, more outlets, wireless electricity even?"

Live Image Search
Okay, so I thought the coolest thing about Live Image Search was that it let you scale the picture so you could zoom back, but no the coolest thing is that it now provides you with a never ending page when you search, so that you just keep scrolling down past images until you find one. No more clicking! Really clever.

Download of the Day: Google AutoPager (Greasemonkey) - Lifehacker
Google AutoPager (Greasemonkey) - Lifehacker
"Typically, when you get to the bottom of a search page, you have to click Next to view the next batch of results. Not so with AutoPager: It fetches and appends the next batch as you scroll down, creating the illusion of infinite scrolling. Obviously you could just increase the number of results that appear when you search, but that makes for longer load times. AutoPager retrieves extra results a page at a time, as needed. Great little script; works like a charm."
One likes that.

It looks as if there is a thick layer of sand coating the animal. It weighes 2 tons and it stands 4.70 meters tall. Because of its height it catches enough wind to start moving."

SpinVox - Why don't I know about this already?
SpinVox is a UK startup which you can have instead of your own networks voicemail. When you receive a message it performs Voice-to-text on it and sends you a text telling you you have a new message but also telling you what was in the message! It can also be set to send an e-mail, publish live to your blog and so on. pretty Nifty.

US defence contractor looks for quantum leap in radar research | The Guardian | Guardian Unlimited: "They designed an exploding cigar to kill Fidel Castro and hired fortune-tellers to fight the cold war. Now the US military is taking its war on terror where even Albert Einstein feared to tread - into the baffling world of quantum mechanics. Lockheed Martin, a main US defence contractor, thinks it can exploit research on the fringes of theoretical physics to build the ultimate radar, which could see through anything, from buildings to solid earth."
