If we can’t convince the font companies to set their versions of classic fonts free, we will recreate them ourselves. The great fonts are based on designs that are centuries old that can’t possibly be protected by copyright law. Although it would be a major task, the collective power of the online community could create quality versions of classic fonts. Little by little, we can build an open source classic font library! Does anybody have a complete set of the original Garamond that I can borrow? Let’s get started…

Quake 3 in 10240x3072 yes 10,240
plastk:net - Quake 3:
It's amazing how much more fun games are when you can play them on really large, high-resolution screens. Our lab also has a 24 monitor display wall, and as you can see from the pictures below, I got Quake 3 running on it.
Scott Adams describes his battle with being unable to speak
The Dilbert Blog: Can You Hear Me Now?:
Last May I started having trouble with my voice. I figured it was allergies. But it didn’t get better when allergy season ended. Eventually I went to the doctor and he told me it might be acid reflux. I popped the anti-reflux pills and waited for the cure. But it only got worse. On the next trip my doctor diagnosed it as bronchitis, which I think it probably was at that point. No problem. I popped the antibiotics, and waited for the cure. But my voice kept getting worse.

Picture clouds bring photos to life by showing items on the web from a new perspective. With a little creativity, you can now show items online just like you see them in person. Whether it is a house for sale, or a fun 360 of yourself, picture clouds are easy to create and easy to post. No software to download, no special cameras needed, and no signup is required, and best of all - picture clouds are free.

Exclusive Screenshots: Google Calendar:
I’ve gotten possession of screenshots from Google’s long delayed new Ajax calendar application, which will be called “CL2″. It was only a matter of time before someone broke down and leaked these - as far as I know these screen shots are the first on the public web.

Red rain could prove that aliens have landed
Red rain could prove that aliens have landed:
There is a small bottle containing a red fluid on a shelf in Sheffield University's microbiology laboratory. The liquid looks cloudy and uninteresting. Yet, if one group of scientists is correct, the phial contains the first samples of extraterrestrial life isolated by researchers.

Facinating article about the death of search engines
What do you mean they're not dead? They will be if somebody doesn't solve this:
Facinating article about the death of search engines
Facinating article about the death of search engines
There is a new and insidious threat to the World Wide Web: a slowly rising tide of 'original content' on Internet sites that is at best worthless, and at worst possibly even dangerously inaccurate.
