So it looks like Yahoo! should buy Isotoma!

Or at least Sleevenotez:

Check out this post from the head of Yahoo! Music!:

Convenience Wins, Hubris Loses and Content vs. Context, a Presentation for Some Music Industry Friends

bits that should make you want to read are:

in a manner of speaking iTunes is a spreadsheet that plays music. It’s context-free. You just paid $10 for that album — who plays drums? I dunno, WHY DON’T YOU GO TO THE WEB TO FIND OUT, BECAUSE THAT’S WHERE THE CONTEXT IS.

...

But the content experience on the Web is crap. Go to Aquarium Drunkard, click an MP3. If you don’t get a 404, you’ll get a Save As… dialog or the SAME GOD DAMN QUICKTIME BAR FROM 1995. OMFG. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THIS IS ALL WE’VE ACCOMPLISHED IN 15 YEARS ON THE WEB? It makes me insane.

...

FIX IT. Your fans are pouring their music-loving hearts into blogs, Wikipedia, etc and what tools have you given them to work with? Not much, unfortunately.

This is what I’m vowing to devote my energy, and Yahoo!’s energy to

Go tell him to buy Sleevenotez. It's the product he wants and it already exists...

WebRunner

Turn websites into applications, sort of, with WebRunner

It allows you to "can" a web application, eg. Google Reader, so that it has its own icon etc, and that all of the cookies are independent. This means two different users could use google reader on the same pc.

I found this through a non-link on Stephen Fry's blog (somebody said "google this").

It's a sweet story of a girl working in a store, who suddenly discovers that Tim Curry has walked in. Priceless

Have we had this already? Or did I miss the memo?

userstyles.org

"userstyles.org is a collection of styles that puts you in control of the appearance of websites and of Mozilla applications. These styles can remove annoying parts of websites, change the colour scheme, streamline your browser, and much more."

You just install the Stylish add-on for Firefox/Flock/Thunderbird, then away you go.

Ctl-Alt-Whatnow?

A brief bit from David Bradley who was the inventor of Ctl-Alt-Delete, he's on this panel here with Bill Gates and he accidentally slams Bill Gates - okay maybe not that accidentally.

This looks like a really interesting show, I wonder if there's a full version anywhere. The guy to the left of David Bradley, with the beard, is Dan Bricklin who invented the spreadsheet. So a very interesting group.

Don't ask why

Convert your images into HTML for fun and slowness. Why you would ever ever want to do this is kind of beyond me, but for the ingenuity of it you have to give them something.

It just uses thousands and thousands of 1px x 1px cells in a table! Great but does it validate?
